Anniversary- 2 years

How have I been married for 2 years already? Where has the time gone? Monday December 1st was our 2 year anniversary and my parents 42nd anniversary. Yes, we got married on their 40th wedding anniversary. I had always wanted to get married around Christmas time and my parents 40th happen to fall on a Saturday the year we got engaged. The venues we wanted were available so done and done! The Hubs and I celebrated simple this year with dinner at the Angus Barn. It's really one of my favorite places in Raleigh to eat. I could live off the cheese, crackers, and relish trays!

They always have the cutest trees but the lighting is somewhat annoying.
They brought us a little pound cake with candles to celebrate our anniversary!

Heres to many many more anniversaries!

Finally a Thanksgiving Recap

I'm FINALLY getting around to posting a Thanksgiving recap. Ours was quick and crazy! We started with a Friendsgiving on Wednesday night. I mentioned it here. We all had dinner, drinks and some karaoke. We shut the place down.. literally! They kicked us out at 10pm, apparently they usually close 9.

Thanskgiving we had lunch at The Hub's Moms in Sanford, NC. After lunch we headed home to make another round of macaroni and cheese- you can find my recipe here. We then headed to Louisburg for dinner with my parents and my Dad's side of the family. Here I attempted to take a few pictures of the food and cute kiddos!

This is the best part of the holidays.. the desserts! I mean this is what I live for right here.. my heaven!

I am actually not a fan of turkey or ham for that matter. My Grandma always makes us chicken n' dumplings because I have several family members that feel the same way about turkey and ham. This was the only picture I was able to get and believe me it was scrapped soon after this picture. As a kid my cousins and I would almost get in fights over the last spoonful of this. All completely from scratch!

This cutie is growing way too fast! She is obsessed with jewelry and even after awhile of not seeing me, comes right to me. I think it's because I always have jewelry for her to look at but hey I'll take it!

This was her first Thanksgiving! A little chunk! I could eat those cheeks.. our family definitely has the chunky cheek gene.. love it!

I know I'm crazy late but I hope everyone has a good, safe, and yummy Thanksgiving!

Five on Friday- Trying to catch up..

Happy Friday Lovies!

We really have had a lot of things going on. The holidays and parties are in full swing but here are 5 things that I've missed updating lately.

1- The Hubs was so excited to get concrete curbing and stamping done to our patio. He is in concrete sales and one of his customers actually does this. I am absolutely in the love with the curbing! The stamping of the patio I like but I thought it was going to be the same color as the curbing. Oh well.. the Hubs loves it and I guess that's all that matters.

2- We had a "friendsgiving" in Pittsboro at the Road House and General Store. It's amazing that guys that hung out in high school all still live somewhat close and hang out. Here is a little photo of the group.

3- My Mom and I had a little shopping spree a few weeks ago. I picked up this little tray from World Market. I love it! It's perfect in our butler's pantry/bar.

4- We have one spoiled dog on our hands these days. She wasn't allowed outside while we had the curbing and patio stamping done so she was a total inside dog (which by the way is not the norm!). She made herself quite at home and now whines to come back inside that things are done and she's back outside. Here are some shots of her hanging out.

5- The guys in our neighborhood all made a bet on Halloween night. No one would shave the month of November. They were able to trim for work presentability but that was all. If anyone gave up and shaved they all had to pay the others. Well everyone made it without shaving! They took a picture November 30th to see how everyone progressed. I have to say it's comical how my Hubs and some others don't really grow beards all that way.. I'm totally NOT complaining though.

Have a happy Friday and great weekend Lovies!

Thoughts for Thursday

Happy Thursday Lovies!

I will just get right to it.. I suck! I am a horrible blogger. I attempted more than once to write a Thanksgiving post last week and I seriously bawled.. I mean flat out ugly cried every time. So I bagged it and I've been kinda overwhelmed ever since. I'm so blessed. I shouldn't complain about one single thing but I do.

I guess I feel guilty for complaining and now I'm kinda falling at being in a festive mood this year. My house is decorated inside and out and has been for awhile now. Yes I know I'm that annoying friend/neighbor that decorates immediately after Halloween. I am usually blasting Christmas music, pouring the wine, and annoying my husband. This year I'm just not feeling it. I can't believe Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is already here. I love that my shopping is done, the presents are wrapped and under the tree, my decorations make me smile, but I just can't shake this bah humbug feeling! I hate it.. I seriously hear the Cindy Lou Who song (or real life Faith Hill)- where are you Christmas? in my head.

I cry over everything lately. I have NEVER been a big crier. I mean I cried when I was seriously about a blow a gasket mad but just never an over the top crier. Lately.. I cried reading the news online, thinking about Thanksgiving, just because life is so crazy sometimes. I mean really?! Part of me wants to punch myself. I was the annoying insensitive one when people cried that got up and walked away or just ignored you. Yes.. that was me. Me.. I want to scream at myself.. Pull yourself together!

Do you ever feel like you're in a fog or asleep and your life is passing you by? That's totally how I've been feeling lately. I've GOT to SNAP out of this funk. I've made myself promise myself that I will do something active or meditative for at least 15 minutes each day. I started on Monday- I am hoping this will help me.

Speaking of Monday.. it was my 2 year wedding anniversary! I seriously feel like we just got married MAYBE a year ago at most. We've been so busy. We've already had so many good things happen and we've definitely had our share of downs but my Hubs has been my partner in crime. I don't know what I would do without him. I am blessed to call him my husband!

I've also gotten out of my church routine. I feel like I've fallen off the wagon and that hasn't helped my slump. I hope to get back to church, bible study, and hopefully kicking this empty feeling. I believe in the power of prayer so lovies.. please keep me in your prayers.

Sorry for the Debbie Downer post and lack of posting but I want to be real here. Thanks for listening lovies!

Thoughts for Thursday- One week until Thanksgiving!

How is it we're sitting at one week until Thanksgiving?! I swear time is flying these past few weeks and there just isn't enough time. Even scarier.. we're 35 days from Christmas!

I'm trying to decide what I want to make food wise for Christmas this year. Thanksgiving is a given, I'll be making my crockpot mac and cheese.

I'm sure I'll be making this for Christmas eve dinner as well but I'm thinking I should make some snacks and desserts just because.

I made this yummy toffee pretzel bark once before. I am thinking it might have to make another appearance.

Or maybe these oatmeal balls I made for a cookout this summer.
Peanut Butter Oat Balls from www.themessybakerblog.com

I attempted pimento cheese straws last year. They tasted really good but were a little more like cookies than straws.

As you can see I'm thinking more desserts than snacks. I'd love to hear what you make for the holidays as snacks! Have a good Thursday lovies!

Favorite Things Link Up

Happy Tuesday Lovies!

I kinda jumped the gun and already posted my Christmas wishlist that I gave to my MIL and Hubs. There are always a fun other things I want so I'm going to post a few additional things and see if anyone in my family actually read my blog!

Brown Herringbone 5 Pack

1- Emi Jay Hair Ties.. I haven't tried these yet but have read nothing but rave reviews. I hope to get these in my stocking!

Women's ColdGear® Infrared Legging, Black Women's UA Fleece Headband, AQUEDUCT
2- Fleeced lined workout gear- leggings, jacket, and headband. It's hard for me to get motivated to walk/run in the cold but if I had some fleece lined workout gear I might try and give it a shot.

3- Painting of Our House- I don't know why but I'm obsessed with having a little print of our house done. Maybe because it's our first house together but I think it would be a good item to add to a collage I've been brainstorming.

allen + roth 36-in W Rubbed Bronze Steel Wood-Burning Fire Pit
4- Firepit. (So I actually asked the Hub's Dad and step Mom for this for both of us). Back in October we took a little mountain trip with the Hub's Mom, step Dad and family. That house had so many fire places and I loved it! Sitting outside and roasting marshmellows was so much fun. So I've been on a kick of wanting a firepit ever since. I also want one that doubles as a table so in the spring/summer it can be useful for BBQs too!

5- Tory Burch Kellen Flat Tory Burch Kellen Flats. I love a pointy toe and I love Tory Burch so win win.. Maybe Santa will bring these if I'm extra good this year!

6- Tory Burch Chase Metallic Ballet Flat Tory Burch Reva Ballet Flat
I'm also really in love with these with a bow! I've also been eyeing these metallic printed Reva Ballet flats. BONUS..they are both on SALE!!

I can't wait to see what's on everyone's wish list! Have a great Tuesday!
