Weekend Recap.. diaper bank, church, and a puppy

Happy Tuesday Lovies!

Lately I just can't get myself together to do a weekend recap on Monday. Work has also been crazy and I'm heading to Atlanta for the rest of the week. Never a dull moment!

Friday I didn't come into the office. (Hence increase chaos yesterday). I volunteered at The Diaper Bank of NC with Young Professionals Network Spring Service Day. I never knew such thing existed but this is an amazing nonprofit. They were receiving their largest delivery of diapers courtesy of Huggies. We never actually counted but estimated over 400,000 diapers. We loaded our cars with the sizes in most need from their warehouse as they were being unloaded and to the center where they are packaged for needy families. If you ever get a chance to volunteer, this is an amazing cause!

Saturday we were in church most of the day because we decided to join our church before these babies are here. It was really important to me to have a church family. It was a rainy chilly day. We were able to have dinner with some amazing friends in Durham. My Hubs actually used to work with a few of them and has kept in touch over the years. Dinner was amazing and they surprised with a little gift. Hey.. we're going to need a lot diapers so it was much appreciated!

Sunday we were back in  church to be presented to the congregation to become members. It was a cold, rainy morning. So much so that after church we stopped by one my favorite local brunch spots, Lucky 32 before heading home and crashing. We seriously changed back into pj's and were lazy bums the rest of the day until dinner.

Sunday night we had dinner with my Hub's Dad and Step Mom. Well it was siblings and kiddos too! Dinner was good. After dinner a family friend brought over a new puppy he has just gotten. The kiddos were in love! Meet Izzy the Boykin Spaniel puppy. Look at those eyes!!

There is our weekend in a nutshell! I hope you had a good one. Have a good week!

Thoughts for Thursday- Ramblings

Happy Thursday Lovies! Today is kinda my Friday since I'm volunteering tomorrow and won't be in the office... yay! Here's what going on in my world..

+ Work.. boy you went from zero to insane pretty quickly. I'm happy to feel like I have job security but a little room to breathe would be nice.

+ Anyone else stalking Targets to see if people return Lilly items? This girl is!! I found a baby sun hat on Tuesday out and about at Target. Of course this had to come home with me! My Hubs rolled his eyes saying we don't know what these babies are just yet. He's right but I feel like I can always re-gift this as my neighbor is having a baby girl in August.

I mean this was too cute to pass up for $12!!

+ I opened my Emily Ley Baby Books on Monday night and bawled my eyes out. I can't wait to write down precious memories/stories/etc. I immediately went on the hunt for sharpie pens extra fine point to write in these books with. My Hubs again rolled his eyes at me. Hey.. it makes me happy so whatever!

+ I seriously need a maid or some energy to clean my house. This hasn't happened in about 2 weeks now and I'm starting to go a little crazy. I know I should rest but my house isn't going to clean itself.

+ Our weekends are crazy from now until these babies come. I'm already starting to feel a little anxiety as when I'm going to have the time and/or energy to get everything done.

+ I'm excited that we're officially joining a church this weekend. We've been going to this church for awhile but not consistently. They hold new member classes 3 times a year. This is the only one that we could take before the babies might be here. I'll be glad to have that behind us so we'll have a home church to get these babies baptized once they are here.

+ Why do we have so many friends?! I feel very blessed but we're debating a gender reveal and dang we can't have that many people at our house. We also have a lot of family with step parents, siblings and etc. Debating whether we should still do one with just family or what to do. I really want to have one because these will probably be our only children but I don't want to hurt people's feelings either. Decisions.. decisions!

+ I'm on the hunt for cute maternity dresses at good prices. Any recommendations? I've hit up Old Navy, Target, Kohl's, and the Gap. They have had super cute work/sun dress but I want some nicer dresses for showers and a few special events coming up. I just hate to pay $150 for a dress I'll only wear this year. Any help would be appreciate!

I hope everyone has a great Thursday and weekend!

Weekend Recap.. Cravings.. Sprinkle.. Lilly

Happy Tuesday Lovies! I had good intentions of posting this yesterday but things don't happen on time these days. I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Friday night I was craving my college days beef stroganoff. It's basically my style hamburger helper. I made this almost every other week in college. It was it also super cheap and reheated well. I've never made it for my Hubs before and didn't look too excited but for some reason my preggo self was craving it and ate more than half of the bowl! Here is a similar recipe- I also used a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce.

Saturday I co-hosted a sprinkle for one my besties! She's expecting a baby girl the beginning of June. Wholefoods arranged the floral arrangement, simply beautiful!

Since the Mom-to-be is obsessed with monograms (I mean who isn't these days?!) we did monogrammed cookies as dessert and favors. Harris Teeter did an excellent job!

Our table set up at Mura. I wish I would have taken some pictures of our food. The sushi was amazing and their presentation is always beautiful. We had good food and even better company!

All the girls from the sprinkle! Thanks to everyone for coming and celebrating baby LCM!!

I decided not to bear the crowds at Target for Lilly. One of my friends sent me this picture of her standing in line to get in Target! I love some Lilly but really?! Nothing and I repeat nothing is worth that kind of craziness!

Also my cravings are in full swing. I woke up Sunday morning asking for Waffle House hash browns. My Hubs looked at me really confused. We NEVER go here, well unless we are hung over and that won't be happening to me for a few more months. They were delicious!

Have a good week Lovies!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday Lovies!

Boy am I glad to see Friday! This has been one heck of a long week. Plus we are celebrating with a little sprinkle for one my besties on Saturday. I'm co-hosting and hope to have some cute pictures to share! My Hubs and I also have dinner plans with two couples we've been trying to see for a few weeks now. Can't wait to share our news with them! Now on to my 5 on Friday..

+ I decided to go with the diamond quilted Kate Spade baby bag. Unless I find something else that I can't live without. The sales clerk said as long as I kept my receipt and didn't take the tags off I could return later if I changed my mind. I went this bag because of the outside and inside pockets. It's also very deep and I think I can use the space with two little ones.

+ I ordered baby books for these little monkeys this week. My Hubs laughed when I was squealing with excitement to order these. I went with Emily Ley's baby book. She just release this on Wednesday. She has twins conceived through IVF after 3 years of infertility. I love how I will be able to customize this book for my little ones. I seriously teared up a bit just thinking about it!

+ My Hubs' grandmother sews and has made several quilts for the family. I asked her if she would be willing to make two twin sized quilts for the babies. She called me this week and said she would! I seriously cried! Damn those pregnancy hormones! I'm going to wait to pick out fabrics until we know the sexes but I can't wait to customize these fabrics. My Mom also sews and offered to make crib skirts and rail bumpers to coordinate. I'm over the moon about this! These babies will have these things forever!

+ My niece is a dancing rat in a local musical of Shrek. My Hubs and I attended this on Wednesday night. It was a cute play but boy was it LONG! I don't think the babies liked me sitting in one place for so long. And geez was Thursday morning bright and early!

+ I'm on the hunt for super cute but affordable maternity dresses. If anyone has any, please send them my way! I ordered this dress from Target. I usually order a medium and this time a medium was HUGE! Sadly the smalls and extra smalls are sold out. I had already returned the medium to the store but from lack of finding cute items, decided to purchase it again and get it tailored.

Thoughts for Thursday..4-12 Week Updates

Happy Thursday Lovies! I meant to post this earlier this week but work has been down right crazy lately. Sorry this is going to be a very long post. I hope everyone is having a great week!

how far along: 4 weeks!

size of the baby: A seed! I so desperately want to hold one in my hand.

total weight gain: I started this journey with about 15 extra pounds I've been annoyed with for the past 1.5 years. Oh well!

gender: No clue! I don't care. I just want a happy healthy baby.

maternity clothes: Definitely thinking about them. I've already ordered some stuff from Target and A Pea in the Pod. Hey.. A Pea in the Pod had some some clearance going on! But all normal clothes for now and I hope it continues for a bit.
stretch marks: Nope.

movement: Only if you count the butterflies I get when I think about being pregnant.

sleep: Lately I haven't been sleeping well at all. It started about a week before we found out. I sleep well until about 3am-5am. I wake up to pee and toss and turn until time to get up.

missing: Nothing yet.
have you told friends/family: Nope. Sooo hard to screaming it to the world!

cravings/aversions: I haven't really had any cravings. I'd had aversions to bananas (I usually eat one a day), anything that smells strong, and sweets (If you know me.. this is bizarre because I love some sweets!).

symptoms: Lots of cramping and twitching. It makes me nervous but I keep reading it's normal. Other than that.. nope.

the hubs is: Still trying to wrap his head around it. I keep saying the baby and he looks at me like I'm crazy. baby is: a tiny ball of cells and is busy settling into his/her new home (my uterus), prepping for all the crucial development s/he will be doing over the next six weeks!

looking forward to: Our first appointment. Since we had to use a fertility practice to get pregnant we'll be monitored from now until 8 weeks with the fertility clinic and then with my regular ob-gyn. I'm ready to see the baby on the ultrasound. Also.. telling people. It's so hard to keep this quiet. I want to tell the entire world! Hopefully by Easter everything will be checking out good and we can tell both sides of our families!

best moments: Finding out we're expecting! I'm still in shock! After a year and half of trying, shots, drugs, appointments, acupuncture.. I felt a little different but chalked it up not using acupuncture this month. I was cramping the morning I took my test and was in shock when I saw that little blue line. She laughed and said that's how it starts. So maybe I felt my first sign of movement. Nothing else since.

sleep: I sleep pretty well other than my back is starting to bother me at night. I promptly scheduled a prenatal massage for Monday. I have some gift cards. :)

missing: Energy. I start off pretty good but by 3:30-4pm I'm ready to crash for the day.

have you told friends/family: All of our family knows! Some friends know. I've been waiting to see them in person to tell them. I love to see people's faces. :)

cravings/aversions:  None really.

symptoms: Just really tired.

cries: Proud to say nope!

labor signs: No.

belly button in or out: In.

wedding rings on or off: On.

the hubs is: doing well. He was excited to tell family last weekend. He's starting to get excited to find out what these little monkeys are.

babies are: maturing their little systems. The fetal digestive systems are beginning to practice contraction movements necessary for eating, and their bone marrow cells. Their pituitary glands have started producing the hormones that will allow them to make babies of their own in a couple decades or so.

looking forward to: Seeing these little monkeys on the ultrasound again.

best moments: Seeing the looks on people's faces when we say we're pregnant with TWINS. One of my aunt's had the best facial reaction. I swear I wish I had a picture or video of it!
