Weekending

Happy Tuesday Lovies!

This is a 3 day work week for me so bring it on! I ended up taking my shoes back to Target and purchasing the TOMs. Thanks for everyone's sweet comments and emails! I really appreciate them all. I'm slowly making some progress around this little house of ours and I hope to have some pictures soon. I feel pretty good overall. I'm having living room furniture placement and picture nonsense to conquer and I just can't decide what I want to do. More on this later.

We had a very LOW key weekend. Hopes of closing down our pool in style were quickly drenched as the rain came down. Oh well.. so long pool until next year! We don't have too much report. Our sweet neighbor gifted us some bread. It was amazing! She's working on starting her own business. We'll be her taste testers any day.

Saturday was rainy and just kinda a lazy day. A neighbor came over for a crockpot dinner. Those are the best! Epic fail that I didn't take any pictures of the pork tenderloin or mac and cheese. Sunday the Hubs played golf and I slept in. I worked on fall decorations. I am loving my little Halloween tree.

My MIL and step FIL came by for a take out dinner and chat for a bit. Very relaxing weekend!

I apologize for my lack of blogging and attitude. I've had a lot going on lately personally. I hope to be up to talking more about it soon. I also am having to say goodbye to two of my favorite co-workers. I'm very happy for them but just sad to see them go. One has been with me since day 1! She had already been with the company but started in the same office I did on the same day. It's going to be hard not seeing her around but I know we will keep in touch.

I'm hoping to come back from this little vacay with my hubby refreshed! T minus 1 day until Savannah bound!

FRIDAY... Fall Holidays!

Happy Friday LOVIES!

I'm seriously on the countdown until vacation. It can not get here fast enough! :) I know I know that I seem to rush every holiday but this is my favorite time of the year! Here are some things I'm looking forward to..

1- Decorating my Halloween tree. Yes I just said Halloween tree. It's tiny but super cute. I'm thinking I might start on this this weekend. I can't wait to post some pictures.

2- Pumpkins and Mums! I've already put my fall wreath out and I'm working on some fake pumpkins in my lanterns but I can't WAIT for pumpkins and Mums. I am trying to restrain myself so they will be pretty for Halloween but it's soo hard!

3- Halloween- I can NOT contain my excitement! Our neighborhood is slam packed full of kiddos. I can't wait to greet each and everyone of them in their adorable costumes! I was sooo sad last year that we moved in after Halloween. We also missed our neighborhoods haunted trail. I am really hoping they do this again this year. I am debating about getting a costume. We've been invited to a costume party that I really want to go to this year. I love a theme and a reason to dress up! I debated dressing up our dog, Kasey but the Hubs will probably squash that idea! Hahaha..

4- Thanksgiving. Ok so I'm not as excited about this holiday. I don't really like the food at Thanksgiving. Seriously.. My Grandma on my Dad's side always makes us Chicken n' Dumplings because there are quite a few on my side that aren't the biggest fans of turkey and ham. I do look forward to the desserts and seeing my family. I'm going to try a new approach this year. I want to focus on what I'm thankful for.. not the food.

5- CHRISTMAS! I mean does this holiday need to be explained! I'm already plotting Christmas tree designs this year. YES I have multiple trees! I love each and everyone. They all have a theme. I think I  may shake some up a bit this year. I love all the parties, church services, and just being around the ones that you love. Presents are great but I seriously think people focus way too much on presents. Maybe I focus too much on decorating but I love it! I almost cry every year when it's time to take it all down.

Thoughts for Thursday

Happy Thursday Lovies!

This week has seriously been a fog- thanks allergies! I didn't prepare a post before hand so this is going to be very random..

I'm in shock that it's been 13 years since 9/11. It still feels like yesterday. I will never forget that eerie feeling of that entire day. I was a freshman at Meredith. I had just gotten back from my 7:30am calculus (I don't know what I was thinking signing up for this class!). I had fallen back into bed since I didn't have another class until 11. Our dorm phone kept ringing. I finally stumbled out of bed to answer. It was my Mom. She told me to turn on the TV. I did and I felt like this a joke.. a movie.. this can't be real! I walk outside our dorm and there are swarms of people! All classes had been released and would be cancelled for the rest of the day. We had barely been at school at month but we all huddled into the parlors and continued to watch TV. We all grew much closer that day. I don't think anyone will ever forget that day. My heart and prayers go out to the ones that witnessed or had family members involved.

I still can't believe Joan Rivers is no longer with us. That was one hysterically funny and crazy lady! Fashion Police will NEVER be the same. I also had no idea she was 81. I guess plastic surgery does work wonders. RIP Joan Rivers.. you will be missed!

I think I'm already in vacation mode. Well not give a d@mn mode is probably more like it. We're headed to Savannah next week and I am so ready to be there. Usually I'm WAY more organized and have a schedule and things all mapped out. Well I haven't done anything but make 2 dinner reservations that I made months ago. I haven't even looked at the weather. I've been kinda out of my usual self lately. I'm hoping these few days away with my hubby will help me snap back into myself, reality, or whatever.

Sorry this post is so depressing.. wow I didn't plan on going that way. Any who.. Have a good Thursday!

Rainy Monday Morning

Happy Monday Lovies!

It's pouring rain and gloomy here. It was all I could do to get out of bed. These are the mornings I would rather lay in bed and be lazy!

Friday the Hubs called me at work and sent me this picture. A concrete something (I loose him with technical details.. LOL!) smashed his finger. His finger was swollen and bruised but luckily his ring took the brunt and actually saved his finger. So Friday night was spent at the jeweler getting his ring fixed!

Saturday was a lazy morning around the house. The Hubs decided to go shoot sport clays and meet up with some guy friends for dinner. I headed to Raleigh for some shopping (supposedly Christmas) and to meet my parents/grandparents for dinner. Can I just say I totally blew that whole no spending on myself in September out of the water! I did score some Christmas presents but I was over the moon that I scored this DVF dress at TJ Maxx.. yes TJ Maxx!

I stopped by Fresh Market to pick up a few things and stumbled across this! I have never seen Mimosas in a bottle premade. Has anyone tried these?? I will be trying them out shortly and will let you know what I think.

Sunday my parents came over and my Mom cut and colored my hair.. pictures to come soon. While she was there she helped me with my wreaths! I love them all! The summer one she made earlier but the fall and Halloween ones are new! I totally put the fall one up last night. I wanted to put my lanterns out and move the flowers but the rain stopped me. More to come soon but check these wreaths! My Mom is so good at this stuff, I totally did NOT get this gene.

I hope everyone had a good weekend! Have a good Monday!

FRIDAY!

Happy Friday! The first official Friday of September.. does this mean I can put all my fall stuff out now?! On my 5 this Friday..

- I'm OBSESSED with these Bark Thins thanks to Amanda. I made every single one of my coworkers try these. They all agree- they are heavenly!

- I'm going to try and follow Natalie and not spend any money on myself in September. I'm trying to knock out some Christmas shopping (yes I know I'm hectic!) and pay down some medical bills.

- I'm soooo excited to work on my fall and Halloween decor this weekend. I'm redoing my fall wreath and making a new Halloween one. Well let me rephrase this.. I bought all the stuff and know how I want to it to look and my Mom is going to put it together. I even have a Halloween tree! I've had it for years but didn't get to use it last year because we literally closed on our new house on Halloween. I can't wait to have pictures to show you!

- I confess that Christmas cards are already on my brain. I've already forewarned my MIL that I would really like her to take our pictures again. She did these for us last year and I LOVED them! She's so talented with a camera. I'm also excited that this year I get to take advantage of some sales. We had to wait until the last minute last year because I was adamant about getting our pictures in front our new house. And of course it was November before the yard was finished enough to take pictures. Anywho.. I'm determind to get a good deal this year!

- For some reason I'm obsessed with owning a fur/faux fur vest. I debated after Christmas last year and actually came pretty close to buying one but backed out a last minute. Now I wish I had bought it. I don't know why but it's just one of those things I want to add to my closet. If money was no object I love this one- that's not going to happen so I'm leaning towards something like this one below.

Thoughts for Thursday

Happy Thursday Lovies!

I'm seriously still in shock that it's September. Where did this year go? Today I'm just going to ramble about things I've been thinking about lately. So here it goes..

- I was reading some blogs the other day and came across this quote.. It seriously hit home for me. I constantly worry. I worry about money- do we have enough saved, how much we spend on things, bills that seem to never stop rolling in. I worry about job securities. I worry about the saftey and health of my loved ones. I mean I could seriously go on for days the things I worry about. I pray about these things but it's something I seriously struggle with still letting go of the worry. I'm a total type that needs every minute planned ahead of time. I don't do well with last minute and I don't do well with feeling out of control. This is something I hope to work on personally.

- I'm in a cooking rut these days. I need some new recipes but I've been too lazy to research anything. I mean I've been making BLT's at least once a week sometimes twice (oops!). I think I'm secretly waiting for it to cool off so I can jump into chili and soups! I can't wait to come home to a crockpot of yummy soup to warm up from the chilly days. Anyone have any recommendations of something quick, easy, and still summer friendly? I'm open.

-I'm excited for some football and tailgating. I'm a State fan and the Hubs is a Duke fan. I'm hoping to at least get to go to one of each this year. Last year it was all Duke games. The year before all State.

- Maybe I'm an idiot but could someone explain Twitter to me? I don't get it. I mean I get you say stuff but is that it? I'm much more a Facebook and Instagram kinda girl. Twitter kinda makes me feel old.

- I almost feel like a trader to my generation here but I could care less about a pumpkin spiced latte. My office is located across the street from Starbucks and everyone here is beyond excited. I don't drink coffee at all.. I know I know.. I'm the weird one. I will admit it smells good and looks pretty good but just not for me.

Tuesday- Weekend Recap

Happy Tuesday Lovies!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

I want to start off by saying that I failed to link up with anyone on Friday. Friday morning I had computer issues and I just gave up! So sorry about that!

Friday the guys came to fix our backsplash in our butler's pantry. Well they got 2/3 of it done. Now we're waiting on the last piece. Things are never easy!

We headed down to Carolina Beach to stay at my parents house for the weekend. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous! We couldn't have asked for a better beach day. We got to hang out with some friends and their kiddos as well.

The Hubs and my Dad went to set up our tent and came back with a bicycle. Apparently someone was giving this bike away. My Dad is a sucker for anything free. He was excited to paint it and use it. Gotta love my Dad! He also wasn't excited about riding the bike all the way back to the house and convinced my Hubs to pull him on the golf cart. Ridiculous I tell ya!

For dinner we headed to the Deck House with the parentals.

The Hubs has voiced that he's over pictures! So this weekend was basically a lack of pictures. :(

After dinner we stopped by God Hops Brewery for a drink.. I really do love their beer!

Sunday was another great beach day. It was a bit hotter than Saturday but I'll take it! We enjoyed some beach time with several friends and kiddos! We joined some friends and their family for dinner at Rucker Johns. I'm mad at myself for not taking a picture of my salad and amazing crossiant! Our food was delicious and I couldn't leave there without their brownie sundae. It's too die for ya'll!!

We had talked about meeting some friends out to hear a local band but we were basically in a food coma. The Hubs fell asleep in the chair and I wasn't very motivated.. yes we are old!!

Yesterday we got up and enjoyed a quick breakfast at The Gulf Stream before heading home. We had planned to go to an end of summer social in our neighborhood. Once we got home and settled, the Hubs decided it was too hot. I had decided I would still go. Well I knocked over a bottle of wine that shattered and went EVERYWHERE. So I spent the next hour cleaning floors, cabinets and picking up glass. So no social for me! A few neighbors joined us for some cocktails at our house and we ordered in pizza.

Overall another great weekend down! I did NOT want to get up today and face reality.. Oh well! Hello Tuesday! I hope yours is great lovies!
