Thoughts for Thursday

Happy Thursday Lovies!

+This week has flown by thanks to ice, snow, and well more ice around here. I'm personally OVER it! NC completely shuts down. I'm back to work but it's delayed each morning. I don't think the kids around here will go back. My neighbor posted a plea to send the kids back and give the parents a little break.. haha!

+I started cleaning out my closet. Wow.. I'm not going to have a lot left at the rate I'm going but is what it is. Most of the things I can't begin to fit into anymore. I have a lot of classic pieces but they aren't doing me any good when they are 2 sizes smaller than I've been for the past 2 years. Sigh.. I must face reality.

+Work (yes I use my work laptop to blog) switched our web browser from internet explorer to google Chrome. Chrome is soo much easier to upload pictures since internet explorer was having all kinds of issues but I just discovered chrome isn't posting my comments on people's pages. WTF?! So a few WEEKS of comments.. not there. So I really have been commenting but you just can't see it. I sometimes hate technology and the fact I'm an idiot when it comes to it.

+I never ever thought I'd say this but I'm over food! Well over planning food. I need some new ideas of what to cook that is simple and easy! I fall into a rut. I also think this cold weather isn't helping this for me.

+I'm ready for SPRING! I'm in a winter rut and I'm over it! Anyone else with me?

Catch Up.. Weekend Recap

Happy Wednesday Lovies!

How is it Wednesday already? Sorry for being MIA last week. My allergies were kicking my butt. I was also off on Friday because it was my birthday! My Hubs and I had a little beach weekend getaway. It was fabulous! I came home so relaxed. It was also nice to have President's Day off as well. I was able to run errands, get caught up on laundry and all the "fun" stuff before work again on Tuesday. Well mother nature had other plans.. we got ice and a little bit of snow. So yesterday ended up being a DVR catch up day with my Hubs.  Here are a few pictures from our weekend getaway!

My Hubs and I love Oceanic. We stopped there for my crabmelt sandwich- my fav!

We had dinner at Rucker Johns on Friday night for my birthday. They have the best salads and honey drizzled crossiants! I meant to take a picture but I was too hungry to pause. They brought out this brownie sundae- delicious!
Saturday the wind was a bit bad. My little crab welcome sign is now on his last leg. We've had this since the house was built. I need to replace him with something else. If anyone has any suggestions on where to get something like this, please let me know!

We ventured to Wilmington to try Hieronymous Seafood. I've heard so many good things about this place but it's kinda out of our way and during the season way too far.
They start you out with garlic cheese biscuits! YUM!

My Hubs and I split Mahi and Shecrab soup. So good!

Valentine's Day dinner was spent with two wonderful friends. They are newly engaged and live at the beach! It was great to see them, hear the engagement story and wedding plans, and just catch up. We dined at one of our favorites places, The Deck House. They wouldn't take reservations and told us it was an hour and 45 minute wait. We snagged a couch in the bar and had some drinks. Luckily we only had to wait about 45 minutes! It was great although we were all tired and sleepy after our big meals!

Our chocolate covered strawberries for dessert!

We had a fun filled weekend of lots of food. If that wasn't enough seafood, my Hubs decided to pick up some from the fish market at the beach on our way home. Our neighbor is an amazing cook and his family owned restaurants. He came over and showed my Hubs how to prepare scallops and shrimp for our Sunday night dinner.

I didn't get any pictures of the ice and snow we got Monday afternoon. I actually didn't go outside at all yesterday! Our poor dog fell down the steps when we let her out to potty so I decided it wasn't worth risking! I hope everyone is having a great week.. stay warm and safe!

Five on Friday- Thoughts and Food

Happy Friday Lovies! I don't know about you but this has felt like the longest week of my life! So ready for the weekend. Here are my 5 day..

1- Work has been an up and down battle for the past few years. It's a constant stress of how long will they keep me or what will they do with us once our portfolio is gone (which is coming sooner than I had hoped). I'm faced with if I should look for another job or stay here until they kick me out the door or move me around. This is an ongoing thought and battle I've been facing for the past year. I have a wonderful boss. He is downright amazing! I could not ask for anyone better. When I think of settling for something else I'm reminded of this quote..

So I'm thinking I will stay unless that dream job comes around.

2- I made Christina's Flat Breads for dinner on Monday. I feel like I get stuck in a cooking rut. I make the same things over and over again because they are quick and easy. OMG these were amazing! I did tweak the recipe a bit. I used feta cheese instead of goat just because I already had it on hand. I also added some bacon crumbles since I had a few strips left over from breakfast on Sunday. These were quick and easy and delicious. These will be made again soon!

3- Rusk Deep Shine Invisible Dry Shampoo- I bought this the other day. I've never used dry shampoo before but I'm trying to stop washing my hair every day. It's a hard habit to break so I thought this might help me along. This stuff smells awful!! I literally got a headache after using it. My hair had some sort of film over it. It was an odd feeling. I washed my hair that night and it took several washes to get the stuff out of my hair. Anyone else have this problem? What kind of dry shampoo do you use?

4- I was talking to my Mom on the phone yesterday. She told me that my Dad got some new thing (I didn't ask what) and all he got was a DVD with it. They tried 3 DVD players in the house to see the instructions. I seriously burst into laughter. I mean I laughed until I cried. I asked her if they had thought about putting it on the laptop? I'm putting sure it's a CD- ROM of an instruction manual. I love my parents but they are pretty clueless when it comes to technology. Anyone else's parents like this?

Side note- I had problems hooking up my blue tooth from my phone to my speaker in my car this morning. Do you think it's karma or that the apple doesn't fall all that far from the tree?

5- We have zero plans this weekend and I'm over the moon about that. We have so many projects/cleaning around the house I would like to knock out. I'm putting this as one of my 5 so hopefully I will hold myself accountable and get moving. Kickstart to spring cleaning!

I almost had this feeling today. Thankfully, it passed. :D

Have a blessed weekend Lovies!

Thoughts for Thursday- My Gallery Wall

Happy Thursday Lovies!

I have been dying to post this about my gallery wall. After looking several places my Mom recommended getting my pictures framed at the NC flea market. I'm not going to lie I was hesitant at first. Let me just say they were wonderful! Completely custom with an array of mats and anything you would want or need and a FRACTION of the cost of the franchise frame shops. Literally I got all of my pictures done for the same price I was quoted for 1- 5X7 to be framed at the franchise shop. I stole an idea from Pinterest to use paper to see how you wanted to place the pictures. I also marked the paper where the nails should be. This made hanging soooo much easier than normal. I will have to do this from now on with all pictures!

I'm in love with my little gallery wall!

Weekend Randoms and Super Bowl Foods

Happy Monday Lovies!

It's raining here and it was all I could do to drag myself out of bed this morning. Today would be a good day to stay cuddled up on the couch in pj's!

We had a super busy and fun weekend and almost ZERO pictures! We were too busy living life to stop and take pictures. Which kinda makes me sad a bit.

Friday we celebrated an engagement of one my friends. I'm so happy for her! This bride is on the ball- their date is October 10th of this year. I can't wait to celebrate their big day. It was also good to see so many of our friends and catch up a bit.

Saturday was laundry and the regular attempt at cleaning. I stopped and indulged in a little snack. I've been addicted to The Fresh Market's dark chocolate ice cream lately. Calories shouldn't count since I added berries as a topping, right?

Saturday night we attended a cookout at a family friend's house. They cooked pheasant, duck, and quail. I tried them all to be open minded. The pheasant wasn't bad. I didn't care for the rest. Thank goodness my step MIL made chicken casserole as well. I really hate I didn't take pictures of the all food (it was a lot!) and of our good little group.

Sunday morning was early service at church and then breakfast at the NC Farmer's Market. Their biscuits are hard to beat! I enjoyed mine with grape jelly. My Hubs prefers molasses.

I had a lazy afternoon until heading over to our neighbors for a little Superbowl gathering. I had planned on taking pictures and again starting chatting and eating and totally forgot! I did (at the end of the night mind you) take a picture of the food. Half eaten and well this isn't even half of it. There were pulled chicken sandwiches and baked beans not pictured. You can barely see the chicken wings. We've already devoured the mozzarella sticks and pigs in a blanket. The half time show was really good, much better than previous years.  I usually watch commercials but I was too busy chatting this year, ha! The game was a good one. I was kinda sad the Seahawks didn't win but it will be ok. I'm only a Seahawk fan because of Russell Wilson (he played for NC State). Anywho.. good game guys!

This is actually a picture I should have included for last weekend's recap. I couldn't get my computer to cooperate so I thought I would share it today. These are the items I scored at the Bullock's warehouse sale last Saturday. Now if I could just find a little entry way table I could finish finding a home for all of these.
